So often we've had 2 endure in school reading about Shakespeare and what great things Europeans accomplished and all those novels in high school we had 2 suffer through-Mice & Men, Tom Sawyer, To Kill a Mockingbird, I mean none of these texts reflect our culture or any circumstances we've gone through so it's a wonder if some of our kids dont wanna read. When we do see our kids reading for pleasure on the trains what's n their hands-books written by Afrikan authors because they can relate. That's all. And we don't have 2 dumb it down either because our kids r 2 smart they just haven't been given real direction-and the blame is partially on the elders!!! If they didn't teach as other cultures teach their youth how will they know?
